Relying on LinkedIn as a free CRM? Not much longer!

I wrote a blog a couple of weeks ago about the changes being made to LinkedIn with a view to “improving the user experience”. Many of our clients now have the new user interface and the feedback is, I think, mixed.

Something that will not impact many of our clients but may impact other users of the platform is the imminent disappearance of “Reminders, notes and tags” functionality. This will soon be available only to users of the paid-for accounts.

If you are using this functionality on the free version of LinkedIn, this link explains how to export your data before you lose it (on March 31 2017).

This demonstrates the problem with using “free” products as a home for your business-critical information. For us, executive search firms (and – to be fair – a smaller number of in-house executive search teams at large corporations) pay our bills, and so we are not going to go out of our way to upset them! For LinkedIn, the key market is the Corporate recruiter and so upsetting recruiters on the free product is not such an issue for them.

If you are impacted by this change and need a new home for your data you may wish to speak to the FileFinder sales team!
